COMMUNICATING AT ENERO ARQUITECTURA
For ENERO Arquitectura, communication is a natural extension of the project itself. It is not simply about showing images or explaining technical solutions, but about speaking of our hallmarks and of a formal language built through space, matter, light, and time. It allows us to put words to what is normally expressed through drawings, sections, and construction decisions, and to share it with those who are interested in our way of understanding architecture.
From the very beginning, we have understood that designing and communicating are part of the same process. Both require reflection, synthesis, and a critical взгляд at what we do. It is a way of organizing ideas, reviewing the path taken, and reaffirming the values that guide our work. Attention to the end user, wellbeing, sustainability, and respect for context run through both our projects and the way we tell their story.
THE BLOG AS A SPACE FOR DIALOGUE AND ARCHITECTURAL THOUGHT
The ENERO Arquitectura blog is one of the main spaces through which we articulate our discourse. We conceive of it as a place for reflection and conversation, not as a simple showcase of finished projects. Through it, we share concerns, references, and lessons learned, understanding communication as an ongoing exchange with our audiences.
Some of the posts that have been best received are those that explore key themes in our work in greater depth. Articles such as Facade Design in Hospital Architecture: Light, Comfort and Wellbeing or Breathing Facades: Human-Centered Hospital Architecture have generated notable interest. In both cases, they address how the building envelope directly influences the experience of patients and professionals, and how technical decisions related to daylight, solar protection, or materiality have a direct impact on wellbeing.
Another relevant line of content is reflection on historical hospital architecture. The post dedicated to the renovation of the Fraternidad Muprespa building designed by Miguel Fisac is a clear example. It explains how to approach a contemporary intervention in a protected healthcare building while respecting its original identity and adapting it to new functional and regulatory needs. This kind of content connects project work, architectural culture, and memory, and shows a way of working based on respect and coherence.

FORUMS AND ENCOUNTERS THAT BROADEN THE CONVERSATION
Our communication channels also reflect ENERO Arquitectura’s participation in important professional forums and meetings within the sector. These spaces for exchange allow us to listen to other voices, test ideas, and identify shared concerns within hospital architecture.
In September 2024, ENERO Arquitectura took part in the 34th Latin American Congress of Hospital Architecture and Engineering, organized by AADAIH and held in Córdoba, Argentina. At this event, Francisco Ortega participated as a speaker, addressing the use of generative artificial intelligence and advanced technological tools applied to hospital design, sharing experiences linked to real projects developed by the firm.
That same month, the practice participated in the EuHPN Workshop 2024, held at the Hospital and Modernist Site of Sant Pau in Barcelona. In this forum, issues such as sustainability, the social value of healthcare buildings, the renovation of hospital infrastructure, and the creation of more humane and compassionate environments were discussed. These are themes that form part of the core debate in hospital architecture today and are very present in the daily practice of ENERO Arquitectura.
The conversation around ENERO Arquitectura is not limited to this series of events and forums, since we also like to listen to our own team. Through several publications, such as the interview with the competitions team or with Ana Armero on work in heritage contexts, we bring value to the different specialist areas within the practice.
SOCIAL MEDIA AS A VISUAL NARRATIVE OF THE PROCESS
Social media functions as a complementary channel to the blog. Through it, we share ENERO Arquitectura’s own projects, important construction milestones, openings, and key moments in the building process. It is not only about showing final results, but about building a visual narrative consistent with our way of designing.
Professional photographic documentation is essential in this channel. We carefully consider framing, light, and composition in order to convey the essence of each project with precision. The image accompanies the text and reinforces the architectural discourse, maintaining a recognizable and coherent visual identity.
SPECIALIZED MEDIA AND THE VALUE OF WRITING ABOUT ARCHITECTURE
Presence in specialized media is another pillar of our communication strategy. In an increasingly visual context, we defend the importance of writing as a tool for explaining architecture. Writing about our projects forces us to organize ideas, synthesize concepts, and bring to the forefront the values that define them.
Hospital architecture, because of its technical and human complexity, needs to be explained with rigor and clarity. Articles in specialist press, the news section on our website, and recognition through awards and publications are channels that amplify this discourse. The feature on Francisco Ortega receiving the Rafael Manzano Prize last year in Arquitectura Viva is an example of this.
A RENEWED VISUAL IDENTITY
The recent rebranding of ENERO Arquitectura responds to the need to align all our communication channels with a clear, coherent, and recognizable identity. The new visual identity reinforces the firm’s values and supports the architectural discourse without imposing itself over it. It is a sober, precise, and contemporary image that places the focus on content and projects.
As Fabiana Ceide, our Director of Business Development and Communication, says, “communicating well is not about adding layers, but about eliminating noise.” Visual identity and content work together to build a clear and coherent discourse, where each project finds its place and its narrative.
Communicating architecture is, ultimately, a way of continuing to design. It is an ongoing exercise that allows us to share our way of understanding hospital architecture and the role it plays in people’s lives.
