At ENERO Arquitectura, we believe that transforming the way we design is not just about incorporating new tools, but about changing the way we think. Therefore, achieving ISO 19650-2:2018 (UNE-EN ISO 19650-2:2019) certification represents much more than an external seal. This milestone signifies the validation of a deep internal evolution process and a way of working based on collaboration, information traceability, and continuous improvement.

At ENERO Arquitectura, the Production department has led the implementation of BIM, ensuring the creation, coordination, and quality control of the models.

The BIM methodology has evolved from being an operational tool to becoming the common language that connects each phase of the project, each professional profile, and each decision made within the studio. It is a fundamental tool when designing hospital architecture.

BIM AS THE GUIDING THREAD OF EACH PROJECT

The use of BIM is present from the first sketch to the building maintenance phase. We work under a structure based on the Common Data Environment (CDE), where each document, model, or version is organized, traced, and validated. This way of working ensures that all information is clear, coherent, and accessible to all project stakeholders, from the initial ideas to the final delivery.

The Autodesk Construction Cloud (ACC) platform allows us to structure information in different phases, ensuring that each published data has undergone rigorous validation processes. This clarity translates into efficiency and security in projects where there is no room for improvisation.

In developments such as the Quirónsalud Zaragoza and Quirónsalud Badalona hospitals, the precision of the models and the structured management of information have allowed us to anticipate problems. BIM management helps us coordinate with all involved agents and make well-founded decisions.

A METHODOLOGY THAT HAS TRANSFORMED OUR WAY OF WORKING

ISO 19650 certification has not only been a technical issue but a cultural change. It has required aligning the entire team around a common way of working, where information has strategic value. This has involved clearly defining how it is produced, who validates it, and when it can be shared.

The process has required reviewing protocols, establishing new responsibilities, and formalizing procedures that previously depended on individual experience. Each project now has defined workflows, quality controls at all stages, and a traceability system that allows us to know what has changed, when, and why.

The digital environment we have developed goes far beyond geometry. Thanks to the automation of repetitive tasks and the use of analysis tools, models become living systems that allow us to extract information, control data coherence, and reduce production times.

This way of working has made us more demanding but also more agile. It has allowed us to detect errors before they reach the construction site, coordinate disciplines more precisely, and, above all, strengthen trust between different teams.

A STARTING POINT FOR THE FUTURE

Certification is not an endpoint but the beginning of a new stage. We are developing new ways of integrating BIM with other management tools, exploring how to apply artificial intelligence in hospital architecture design. We extend the use of the digital model beyond the construction site to make it a useful tool in the building’s operation and maintenance.

The ambition is to continue making BIM a transversal methodology, not only in technical terms but as an essential part of the studio’s strategic thinking. We believe that well-managed data is a powerful tool for making better decisions, building with higher quality, and responding more precisely to users’ needs.

At ENERO Arquitectura, we continue to move forward with the certainty that this certification drives us to consolidate a work culture where technology is a means to create more human, efficient architecture that is better connected to the world around us.
